Review of Werckmeister Harmonies (2001) by Paul N — 04 Mar 2012
Bela Tarr is among a group of aging directors (Lynch, Herzog, Cronenberg, etc.) who have really pushed the boundaries of cinema. Tarr, like the others, has a unique style all his own and with this film he has created an uncompromising, unique, and enduring masterpiece.
It is simply the greatest film I have ever seen. Never has a film had such a lasting effect on me. This is not just a movie, it's an experience; one like no other.
