Review of Wendy and Lucy (2008) by Ron S — 03 Apr 2009
Michelle Williams proves here she can carry a movie. We know very little about her character's background but you sense it wasn't a happy one through Williams' characterization. That sad feeling also never leaves the movie so it's not a good idea to see this one if you're depressed.
It does offer a glimmer of hope. While her predicament is dire, she never plays victim & is determined to better herself. The ending is sad (& open-ended) but it gives you a feeling she'll be able to take care of herself.
