Review of Welcome to the Sticks (2008) by Lobo C — 07 May 2008
It should have been called 'Welcome to the boom'! as it's visible every other scene - what were the editors bloody thinking???? That aside, I don't think I've seen a less demanding comedy since the Carry ons? And in this age of mass communication I find it hard to believe one part of the country could be so ignorant of another - Pas de Calais is south of England for f's sake! And if it were considered arctic there what would that make our neck of the wood? The American remake would have to be made by the Farrelly brothers otherwise it'd be too cerebral.
Having said all that, it's not exactly a bad feel-good film - though I think the dialect bit was a one minute joke stretched to 90, and it's just too predictable for words.
