Review of Welcome to the Rileys (2010) by Marc B — 04 Mar 2011
Welcome to the Rileys star James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo as a couple still struggling with the death of their 15 yr old daughter. In the eight years since her death the two have grown apart and both just seem to be going through the motions.
On a business trip to New Orleans Gandofini meets a young runaway/stripper played by Kristen Stewart. He decides she needs a father figure and decides to hang around New Orleans to help her out. His wife, who hasn't left their house in 8 years, drives down to New Orleans to see why her husband has not come home.
The story is a little on the depressing side but given the subject matter that is to be expected. All three actors are good but the story could've been better. They really dropped the ball on the runaway character.
You don't get much backstory and she really isn't that likeable. The failure of the writers to develope the charcater brings the movie down.
