Review of Welcome to the Rileys (2010) by Grant S — 24 Jun 2012
Well-intended story, boringly told. The plot had heart, but direction is pretty much paint-by-numbers. Interestingly, the director is Jake Scott, son of Ridley Scott. Generally a maker of music videos and anthologies, his only other full-length movie was the action-drama Plunkett & Macleane in 1999, a so-so movie. He should stick to music videos.
Stars Kristen Stewart, so you already know this isn't going to be Citizen Kane and dialogue is going to be limited. James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo (especially) give solid performances though.
