Review of Welcome to the Rileys (2010) by Daisy M — 16 Mar 2011
Let me start off by saying I adore James Gandolfini because he can really (really) act and seldom gets his due. Some of his best performances are in smaller films (such as this). His performance in this did not let me down.
He plays a married man of many years whose daughter had died in a car accident. His wife suffers from depression and never leaves the house. (played wonderfully by Melissa Leo). He goes to a convention in New Orleans and comes upon a runaway teen who is working in a strip joint and decides to help her make a better life.
That role is played akwardly by Kristen Stewart and I felt could have done a much better job at that role. The story lulls along a little too slowly but picks up it's pace eventually. . It's not a perfect film, but if you are a Gandolfini fan as I am - you will enjoy this.
