Review of Welcome to the Dollhouse (1996) by Chanda W — 26 Jan 2008
Hands down, this is one of my all-time favorite films. Dawn is the original Napoleon Dynamite: 12 years old, a girl, and about 8 years sooner. This film is one of those movies where you're left howling by how painfully realistic it is.
Anyone can relate to being the outcast in school or the middle child neglected by his or her parents or trying to get noticed by a crush. I love the awkwardness of her character. A must for lovers of dark comedy and satire.
