Review of Welcome to the Dollhouse (1996) by John G — 29 Mar 2008
If "Napoleon Dynamite" lived in New Jersey, he might have been the kind of socially inept peer Dawn could have bonded with, and might have fit in better with her brother's band.
This film captures a similar painful awkwardness of adolescence, although through a more stinging and realistic lens. Visually, it's nothing too special, but the performances are solid.
