Review of Welcome to the Dollhouse (1996) by Adam K — 29 Nov 2009
At first, this was difficult to watch, hitting a little close to home for someone who really wore those big ugly glasses and was teased relentlessly. But it is for precisely that reason -- that it so wholly transported me to my own middle-school experience -- that I find this film truly successful.
Though my sister was never kidnapped, and my bully never threatened to rape me, the tiny and talented Heather Matarazzo brought me right into the heart of the junior high emotional experience.
