The exaggerated personalities you'd expect in a movie about middle-school youth play far more honestly here, and the lack of any generic last-minute redemption seals the movie's fifth star for me.

This isn't a downer pic, either: I laughed at Dawn "Wiener Dog" the entire time I also rooted for her.
