Review of Welcome to Leith (2015) by Brandon W — 22 Jul 2017
Welcome to Leith is directed by Michael Beach Nichols and Christopher K. Walker, and it's a documentary about how a supremacist like Craig Cobb move over to Leith, North Dakota and bring over more supremacists to live over there to the point of wanting to take over the city.
My best friend lives in the same state that the film took place, but she's a few hours away from the city, and she has heard about the news from her dad, so that news might've spread all over the state, which is the reason that I wanted to watch this.
So let's get onto this very unsettling film. Craig Cobb is a terrifying figure as he was almost close to taking over Leith, North Dakota, but he was a bit of a mastermind too as he was very smart in what he was doing, which makes it more scary and make you wonder about what would happen if he actually did take over.
It shows the effect that it have on the family who aren't on Craig's side as they are scared and terrified of him, and they want him to leave, but he doesn't want to. We get to see about what life in Leith is like before Craig showed up, and it was a very friendly small place that enjoy having new people.
We also get to know about Craig Cobb himself to know why he did all that he did. Welcome to Leith is a very uncomfortable film that could've easily been a thriller as it told an interesting story that was actually real.
