Review of Welcome to Dongmakgol (2005) by Aidan H — 15 Oct 2007
I cannot begin to praise this beautiful movie enough. From the gorgeous water colour opening credits to the spectacularly moving finale, this warm, funny and deeply human tale of a mixed bag of North and South Korean (and one American) soldiers who find themselves stranded in a remote mountain village during the Korean War fulfills everything necessary for an great evening's entertainment.
Top mark go to director Park for his elegant and heartfelt anti-war movie and an unforgettable movie experience. Absolutely emotionally riveting and a long-overdue study of humanity during conflict. Brilliant!
