Review of Welcome to Dongmakgol (2005) by Steve W — 17 Jul 2011
Disbanded soldiers in the Korean war find themselves fighting against each other in an innocent remote village isolated from the outside world. They slowly become friends, and relish the life of simplicity.
It's a very good story. Themes of friendship and anti-war are present, especially with the hatred the main characters have toward each other.
With a longer running, time, things don't seem too rushed and they are able to flesh out the characters until the explosive climax. An excellent fictional story taken from real life events.
