Review of Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008) by Jesse O — 25 Jan 2009
Granted it's not a great film, hell I can't even say that it's a good film. I just gave it 3 stars cause it kept me entertained throughout. I liked it cause it's not like those Tyler Perry movies cause they feel pretentious (which is the same problem I have with The Cosby show.
..but I digress), it's just a fun movie and there's really no pretentiousness here the Jenkins are just a normal family and they actually DO feel like a family, which is something that I can't say for a lot of movies that try the same thing (Madea's Family Reunion I'm looking at you).
So that was good to see. As far as the plot goes, it's nothing really great...it's predictable as fuck and you can pretty much see where the movie's going to go by the end of it. So really there's not a whole lot that really sets this film apart from other films like this.
Also I watched this on free tv so perhaps I was nicer to this film than I normally would be.
