Review of Weird Science (1985) by Mike M — 15 Aug 2009
A phantasmagorical 80's version of Merry Poppin's, full of irresponsible behavior, Alcohol, hot chicks, dickweed big brothers, high school bully's, apocalyptic mutants and the party of a lifetime.
One again, John Hughes makes us all feel young again. There are some great performances in this film, Anthony Michael Hall as always is hilarious, Ilan Mitchell Smith was also great, Kelly Lebrock is perfect as the frankenbabe Lisa, Bill Paxton is hilarious as Chet and it was really surprising to see a very young Robert Downey Jr.
here as Ian the bully, you could see he had a future. Weird Science is an ultimate guilty pleasure; the only difference being is that it is infact a great movie, no guilt here. It's fun, witty, creative and moving.
Watch it, love it.
