Review of Weird Science (1985) by Box C — 22 Mar 2010
Openly silly (from the theme tune to the nuclear missile that crashes through the characters' bedroom) and yet thoughtful teen movie about where to find your mojo. The teens think they can find it in the creation of a perfect woman to walk around with, but she makes them find it in subtler ways.
The movie's intelligence comes from its contrasting of these two; it revels in the life of being a stud, but then concludes its probably better to be normal. Great dialogue and performance from Hall (again) also help.
