Review of Weird Science (1985) by Ásta Ó — 27 Jun 2010
Despite its status as an '80s lynchpin, this is something of an unappreciated gem. Many people like "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club;" this one is John Hughes' big-budget, special effects-laden teen movie, and it's hard to imagine a better result than the one we got here.
While containing slightly less heart than "Candles," this is simply one of the most wildly amusing movies of all time, with a great cast (including a young Robert Downey Jr. and Hall, who devastates as usual), fine practical effects, and Bill Paxton playing his jerkass role to absolute PERFECTION.
