Review of Weiner (2016) by Filipe C — 30 May 2016
With unprecedented access to Weiner's (in)famous attempt to run for Mayor of New York City after the political scandal that nearly ruined his career, filmmakers Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg shed light on an ancient truth: politics are about everything except.
.. politics. A film that speaks volumes about the dichotomy and complexity of being human, Wiener portrays its title character as a good man who can't help but make bad decisions and how the media (and the public) indulges in a perpetual dance that focuses on headlines instead of policies.
The would-be comeback kid faces harsh truths about the human condition while the viewers, just might be forced to ask questions about their own political motivations.
