Review of Weekend at Bernie's (1989) by Tommy W — 26 Dec 2011
Iâ(TM)m sure you know about this one, but just in case you needed a refresher, itâ(TM)s about two working schlubs (one played by Andrew McCarthy, who apparently had a monopoly on bad eighties movies) who stumble upon an embezzlement plot.
Their boss Bernie Lomax, whoâ(TM)s actually the one behind the plot, invites them over to his house in the Hamptons to have them whacked, because apparently thereâ(TM)s no law out there. Or maybe the cops are just too busy keeping tabs on Bill Oâ(TM)Reillyâ(TM)s wife.
Anyway, Bernieâ(TM)s mob connections think heâ(TM)s too greedy (not to mention sleeping with the one guyâ(TM)s girlfriend), and kill him instead. The really stupid twist is that no one knows heâ(TM)s dead.
Apparently his body isnâ(TM)t decomposing, evacuating its bowels, or any of the other things dead bodies usually do. And really, thatâ(TM)s about it.
