Review of Weekend at Bernie's (1989) by Jessica H — 24 Jun 2014
An outrageous screwball comedy, Weekend at Bernie's is wildly entertaining. After finding their boss dead at his beach house Larry and Richie decide to masquerade as if he's still alive in order to avoid being suspected of his murder.
As ridiculous as the premise is, somehow the actors make it work. Andrew McCarthy, Jonathan Silverman, and Catherine Mary Stewart all give great performances and deliver a lot of laughs. Though Weekend at Bernie's is pretty much a one-note joke, somehow it's able to push that joke far enough that it become funny again, and again, and again.
