Review of Weekend (2011) by Randy P — 12 Nov 2014
So good. An oad to humanistic understanding.
The movie starts off slowly but once the creators start becoming more and more frank about what they really want to say about gay culture and being gay, it becomes captivating.
It could be debatable whether this was a love story or not. The two main characters have no trouble telling their ideas and pasts to each other, but they don't verbally say how they feel about each other. Either way, their interactions, especially torward the end, prove how much they care about and understand each other.
My only issues with the film were the inaudible mumbles and the ending. I really recommend watching with subtitles to make it easier to understated the dialogue.
The ending is too simple in my opinion, but it makes the film seem more realistic which is what the creators were going for. It fits, but I can't get rid of that feeling of longing in my chest.
I highly recommend this. It's not difficult to understated, but it is very intellectually pleasing.
