Review of We Were Soldiers (2002) by Dustin G — 05 Oct 2009
There are sooo many war movies and to be more specific, Vietnam war movies out there that if you're going to make one, it has to be special, it has to be different, or if it isn't different, it has to be better than the ones that came before it.
We Were Soldiers is none of those things. It's well made and acted, but there's nothing unique enough about it to really have it stick in the mind. The battle scenes seem to lack the intensity and excitement of the ones in films like Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, or Saving Private Ryan.
If this were the only Vietnam war film out there, I'd be much more impressed by it, but I guess I've been spoiled by the likes of Oliver Stone, Stanley Kubrick and Steven Spielberg.
