Review of We Were Soldiers (2002) by Greg N — 14 Jan 2010
I generally appreciate everyone in this movie with just a few exceptions. I even agree that the guys from Vietnam got the shaft and that honestly they didn't do anything guys in WW2 and any other war hadn't done before them.
I even think we probably should've stayed till we won. This movie however is such a shrill, cliche mess that you almost want to disagree with all the things it says even when it's right. It also didn't help that Black Hawk Down came out right before this.
A movie that whenever someone got shot didn't take 5 mintues for them to give a heart rending speech about how they want someone to tell their wife that they love her. Poor Barry Pepper. Will he ever get away from The Saving Private Ryan stereotype.
