Review of We Were Soldiers (2002) by Phileas P — 02 Feb 2010
Black Hawk Down and this one came out almost around the same time. While I think Black Hawk Down is a much better war epic then then this one. We Were Soldiers does have great stuff.
The problem is the damn cliches in the movie. We are kinda past that you know it has all the required people and lines from any war picture. The soldier with the baby and young black man and you could guess a lot more.
Although the combat sequences were very good and was handled very well. The movie shines when it shows the three sides of war. The opposing side, the american soldiers, and the wifes back home.
If you can take the sappy stuff in the begining of the movie, it's worth to see the other half.
MP *** 3/5 Stars.
Note: I deciced to chang my rating system trying something new.
