Cliched sums this film up pretty well. Sure, the soldiers weren't just war machines, they were men, they have feeling too, but its really quite corny. THe film is practically shot after shot of soldiers dying, blood everywhere, on the camera too.
Its really personal taste, but I hate having blood splatters on the camera. This film may offer a different viewpoint (a more sentimental viewpoint) but it doesn't mean its a better film for it.
