We Were Soldiers is the movie based on the first major battle the Americans fought in Vietnam the Battle of Ia Drang in 1965. The acting is very strong with Mel Gibson, Berry Pepper, and Greg Kinnear, Even tho the cliches are everywhere it is still very entertaining and the battle scenes are very good.
However sometimes it feels like the directer puts more focus on the gore than the characters. Unlike movies like Black Hawk Down it is easy to tell the characters apart. Overall this is still a strong film.
