Review of We Were Soldiers (2002) by Pepper J — 08 May 2009

I don't want to take away from the soldiers who actually fought in this conflict or this particular battle, but I feel that this film suffers from comparison with the likes of apocalypse now, platoon, saving private ryan, and even band of brothers.

I couldn't make out a single word Sam Elliot said and Mel lets down his part shamefully - it seems that his only facial expression is 'stony resilience' and he rather hams that up too. All in all it was rather lacklustre - but barry pepper was good and I really enjoy watching him.
