Review of We the Animals (2018) by Raymond H — 11 Sep 2018
Animals may portray the kids eye point of view, but as an adult you can understand the view through those innocent green ones of Jonah's. It's easy to lose a story being told by a boy when the director forces his own adult ideas on it.
But unless you've actually lived close to that kind of experience at one time in your childhood can a director tap into that wonderment of hitting those life happenings head on. Zagar doesn't hold back.
Instead has you witness a family go through the lower class norms of life.while both parents do work mindless late night jobs. The tension becomes too much to handle. By all members. Growing up isn't hard until you look back on it and realize, HOLY CRAP what a journey.
This film opens your eyes to that trek of the youth we all had to endure at one point or another.
