Review of We Own the Night (2007) by Gleb I — 31 Dec 2008
One very good performance and a few very good scenes, especially a car chase in the rain with no extra-diagetic music -- instead, just the sound of the windshield wipers and a police radio.
However, the opening scene indicates that the film takes place in Brooklyn (probably Brighton Beach) in 1988, but the music played in the club and the manager's apartment is all from the late 70s and early 80s: Blondie, the Specials, the Clash, etc. It doesn't look like the late 80s either. Is it possible the opening title is a typo?
