Review of We Own the Night (2007) by Jesse T — 19 Jan 2009
Unfortunately the movies never gets us involved, and although dramatic things happen to the characters, they are kept arms length away from the audience at all times, preventing any sort of emotional connection, and thus, caring.
When the credits rolled I felt nothing for the characters, who seemed less like fleshed out characters and more like actors playing characters. It's a shame, because writer/director James Gray sets up some nice visual moments that deserve a better screenplay.
