Review of We Own the Night (2007) by Noel V — 26 Nov 2009
A great film. Daringly old-fashioned character-driven narrative told with a breathtaking filmmaking style. While Gray's imagery vibrates with energy and portent his characters relax and simply live, allowing for telling tiny gestures and unforced performances.
Taking this with his two earlier films (Little Odessa, The Yards), and I submit that Gray has a trilogy to rival that of Francis Coppola. He owns it, all right.
