A solid but routine character-driven drama about a brother (Joaquin Phoenix) who's a good guy but has business connections he's in denial about which put him on the opposite side of his family of cops, this movie isn't quite as action-packed as the commercials would have you believe but the atmosphere and setting of 1980s New York are well done.
