We Own the Night attempted to bring together the flair of the criminal underworld and the wold of valour and honour associated with policework through it's protagonist, Bobby Green. Instead, all I got from this movie was a fairly plain plot along with some not too interesting characters.

James Gray did some fine directing, everything looked good for sure. However the script was he assembled was less than compelling to put it lightly. The crime element just wasn't gritty enough and the story wasn't deep enough.

All it really was was some sleazy club owner helping the cops out, he gets exposed-he fights for survival. That's more or less the story. Sure there's some other little interactions between characters like that insignificant love arc between Bobby and Amada, but they don't do anything to amplify the main story.

With some plot tweaking, We Own The Night could have been a great movie.
