Review of We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) by John S — 20 Jul 2012
Watching this film the night after the Aurora shootings makes it even more eerie. A strange child with a bent for violence and manipulation grows into an even more troubled teen. While recognizing the threat the boy poses, his parents, particularly his father, ignores his bent and try to find things to make him appear normal.
While this is a strong psychological portrayal, the film finds no insights into what makes the child who he is. Doctors examining the young child says there is nothing wrong with the boy and that is the scariest realization.
