Review of We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) by Joel C — 09 Aug 2012
We Need To Talk About Kevin is a deeply unnerving psychological thriller from Lynne Ramsay with a tour de force performance from Tilda Swinton. The narrative is nonlinear and told in three steps of Kevin's life and because of the strange artistic choices, you may begin questioning if you're watching the right film in the first fifteen minutes but shortly after the pieces begin falling into place.
The film is dark, grim and unsettling and has a tone that makes you fully aware that a haunting conclusion is imminent. The acting is top notch and you really have to give them credit for they are a massive reasoning behind why this film works.
