Review of We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) by Eddie K — 22 Aug 2012
It's certainly a powerful and well made film. As it is seen from the point of view of the distraught mother, it seems very real and distressing: at least in the world that she occupies. But the characters are also disengaged from each other and this made me feel disengaged from them.
It also made me feel that what I was watching was disengaged from reality. Maybe that's the point, but personally I didn't feel it was very satisfying. Too bleak for my taste in films.
