Review of We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) by Damjan R — 21 Dec 2012
The unfortunate tragedies that have marred our country as of late make "We Need To Talk About Kevin" increasingly relevant and eerie. I wonder what I would have thought about it had I seen it six months ago, but as it stands, "We Need To Talk About Kevin" is only rivaled by "Rosemary's Baby" in terms of skin crawling psychological horror.
In essence, "We Need To Talk About Kevin" is "Rosemary's Baby" meets "The Limey". It's extremely disjointed and uses that non-linear editing technique to convey the sense of motherhood horror that "Rosemary's Baby" perfected.
Hell, it feels like a straight up 1960's Polanski film. Dreadfully creepy and undeniably masterfully made. This one's going to be rolling around in my brain for a couple of days. "We Need To Talk About Kevin" is Arpke Approved at 5 out of 5 stars.
