Difficult to sit through and dreadfully dull, We Need to Talk About Kevin suffers from overly pretentious and clumsy directing. This movie is never able to engage the viewer on an emotional level and generates little interest in it's bland characters.
The result is a feeling of detachment from the story and a general lack if interest in whatever might be happening. The film is also incredibly uncomfortable to sit through, making it an overall unpleasant experience.
