Superb performance from Tilda Swinton as the mother of a boy who grown up to carry out a high school shooting atrocity. Shunned and hated by the community, she struggles to cope, while we see the story of how Kevin grew into a psychopath despite her efforts. Often when these sorts of events happen, you wonder what sort of upbringing these twisted kids had. In this film, Eva (Swinton) does all the right things. John C Reilly as her husband doesn't see Kevin's strangeness but apart from getting him interested in archery that proves to b a pretty terrible idea, he doesn't do that much wrong.

Kevin as an adolescent - an excellently creepy Ezra Miller - is a total nightmare, every parent's worst fear and that Eva continues to love him when we quietly urge her to shove his head underwater is the real mystery. The culmination of Kevin's evil is chilling and horrible. This is it a fun film, but an excellently made one. Well done director Lynne Ramsay and actors Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller.
