Review of We Live in Public (2009) by Justin M — 18 Dec 2010
If you remember NYC in the late 90s/early 2000's, when any kid that could hook up a modem was given a 100k job and an opportunity revolutionize the web, then this film will hit close to home. Being an ex-dot-comer myself, the first 45 min of this film engrossed me.
We were audacious, had way too much cash to spend, and our imaginations drastically outpaced the technology. Josh Harris' vision of web media proved absolutely dead-on. Few people could have ever predicted the power of web media and the paradigm shifts of turning the singular ego into a networked node that communicates to the world -- and is consumed in the process.
We Live in Public is essential viewing for anyone that thinks about how the internet and social media affect our lives.
