Review of We Don't Live Here Anymore (2004) by Tibor B — 30 Mar 2008
Pretty depressing US indie drama about two married 30something couples whose relationships are slowly falling apart through adultery and neglect. The rich, autumnal cinematography and dream-like score are contrasted with the often intense performances from a quartet of superb actors.
Dern and Ruffalo stand-out in particular, perhaps because they are given slightly more attention by the narrative than Watts and Krause. Anyway it's pretty miserable and dispiriting, without either a really cold malicious edge or much humour, but it does at least ring true emotionally.
It's worth a look for fans of the actors and moody relationship dramas.
