Lovely feel good family drama, lovely story, lovely performances all round. We Bought A Zoo went above my expectations and told a story that wasn't just about a widower and his two children coming to own a zoo, but also about dealing with the grief caused by the loss of a precious family member.
Crowe's deliberately mellow pace and tone mean the film doesn't always have strong a momentum, but it gradually absorbs and leads towards a satisfying (if predictable) finale.
