Review of We Are Your Friends (2015) by Leah F — 30 Nov 2015
Max Joseph (of Catfish: TV) shows real flair as a director, and delivers a splashy and stylish debut feature. At least technically. We Are Your Friends is not a 'great film', but it also deserved better success than it received, not only with the critics, but with its nuclear level, catastrophic, bombing at the box office.
They probably would have made a lot more money had they gone with the VOD/independent route. Hopefully Joseph can recover and someday make another film, as he has great potential to make something even better.
Without his sense of direction WAYF would not be nearly as watchable.
