Review of We Are Your Friends (2015) by Kj P — 30 Nov 2015
Look, it isn't Shakespeare but I was enjoying it like a good guilty pleasure should be enjoyed. It is a lot of "bruh" and dumb humor but Zac Efron's charm, Wes Bently's screen presence, and Emily and Zac's chemistry is worth the ticket price.
The movie has a much to it as a commercial for soda on MTV and is even shot like a serious of commercials with its ambiguous one liners that act as motivational quotes in commercials. When the movie changes its tone and you'll know it if you watch it, the fun of the movie kind of drops leading into such a by the book cheesy musical finale but even the constant party montages and music video quality running down the streets of LA at night while loud house music is playing are enjoyable enough to make this the guilty pleasure of the summer that I honestly can't recommend as a movie itself, it isn't really well written, but as a movie to heckle at with your friend in an empty movie theater.
This is the movie Spring Breakers wish it could have been.
