Review of We Are What We Are (2013) by Daniele F — 10 May 2014
Jim Mickle creates a perfectly creepy tension throughout the film, functioning more as a gothic family drama than a horror. The subtlety that the film carries its horror aspect for most of the film makes the climax even more shocking than expected, but also a little out of place and gratuitous.
Fortunately, the first hour and a half is a near perfect spin on a grieving family making it worth a watch and rewatch.
