When I see that the critics like a film, and the audience doesn't, that usually says the same thing. It means the movie is over the top in one way or the other. The acting is solid. I would, maybe develop the father a little more.
I certainly would have cut the scene towards the end, at the trailer. Ambyr Childers is the stand out actor here.
