Review of We Are What We Are (2010) by Jordan W — 28 Nov 2010
This film was just too depressing, there was know lift to it. The family started off miserable and eating people, (SPOILER!) then they died miserable. It didn't feel good for any off these people and because of this it just killed the film for me...
Ok my fav film is Requiem For A Dream which is extremely depressing, but it had a soul there were some scenes that made you happy. This just literally showed the height of how depressing life can be, I'm pretty sure I didn't see one of the family members smile once. I really am surprised people gave this film 3 stars, it is definitely between 1 and 2 stars no doubtabout it. Depressing, depressing and depressing.
The film was almost saved by the end scenes of gorey rituals and police shoot outs, ending with a murder by hookers that couldn't have been more perfect...But it was just too dam late, 10 minutes cannot save an entire film. Not possible.
I recommend you DON'T see this film!
2/5.
