Review of We Are Still Here (2015) by Rick B — 06 Jul 2015
I guess I was expecting a tired story that might be creepy and well made. But Ted Geoghegan's film far exceeds that expectation. There is a very clever twist to the genre --- maybe a haunted house is the least of your fears.
Barbara Crampton and Larry Fessenden are particularly effective. Karim Hussain's cinematography is also a major contributor. What really elevates this movie is that it never quite seems to take itself too seriously.
There is a certain demented glee when a gore-fest of chaos and mayhem begins. It is graphic, but Geoghegan wisely never pushes it too an extreme and rarely as a form of shock. Expect the unexpected. And an enjoy this creepy little ride!
