Review of We Are Marshall (2006) by Liam D — 25 Oct 2008
I wanted to like this. I really did. I grew up ten miles from Huntington, WV, and have heard about the crash all my life so was impressed to hear the film was being made. The end product, however, played like the screenwriter got his hands on the 'Little Book of Hollywood Clichés' and just pulled out random pages to write the script.
There wasn't a scene in it that wasn't predictable and trite. Some of the performances, including McConaughey's, weren't bad though and its these and the nostalgia of seeing Huntington on screen that are the only things stopping me from giving 'We Are Marshall' lower rating.
