Although I was unimpressed by Wayne's World, I figured I should give Wayne's Word 2 a shot.

Since the plot of Wayne's World 2 is utterly ridiculous yet is far from the generic plot of its predecessor, it proves to be more entertaining.

And I found the humour to be significantly more consistent as the humour tended to remain for extended time periods in contrast to in Wayne's World where they came and went in brief time lapses. The thing is that Wayne's World 2 puts more focus on the characters than on the big picture of the story, and this allows for significantly more humour to play out. And it comes from unseen directions.

Wayne's World 2 essentially spoofs itself and takes itself significantly less seriously than Wayne's World, and Stephen Surjik's laid back direction proves to ensure a consistent light comedic atmosphere throughout the film and no serious drama to get in the way.

Mike Myers' screenplay writing skills are significantly better this time around because I found the jokes in Wayne's World 2 to be significantly funnier, and that the characters were still as awesome in this film as they were in the first Wayne's World.

Mike Myers and Dana Carvey have lost none of their charms as Wayne and Garth respectively, and their charismatic grip on the comedy of the film continues throughout all of Wayne's World 2 and keeps the buddy theme in tact. The chemistry between the two leads is still hilarious and never misses a beat.

James Hong manages to supply a surprisingly funny supporting role which plays on his Asian roots in one of the most hilarious ways.

Christopher Walken is an interesting face to see in a comedy like this, and Chris Farley's cameo was pretty funny.

The issues with Wayne's World 2 pertain to a lack of originality and the fact that the storytelling is rather unbalanced and all over the place. Sometimes Stephen Surjik is a little too laid back in his direction to keep the story on path.

But still, Wayne's World 2 is a surprising improvement over its predecessor with a surprising amount of laughs, a good soundtrack and a charismatic duo of lead actors.
